Fishing villages on stilts along Lake Nokoue and the beaches of Grand Popo will cast a spell on you much as the voodoo in Benin. This West African country, once known as the "Slave Coast" of Africa was notorious for slave trade. Tribal culture, game reserves, village markets are some of the attractions. - Ouidah- Visit the Voodoo Museum, various other museums and temples, a park known as the Sacred Forest and the sacred, symbolic and historical Route of the Slaves. Road from the town to the fabulous beach features fetishes, statues and small villages along the route the slaves took to the ships.
- Porto Novo-Capital city,beautiful and historical place. Visit the Grand Marche d'Adjara,The Musee Éthnographique de Porto Novo has a great collection of Yoruba artefacts and also visit the ornate Brazilian-style church, now a mosque.
- Penjari National Park-the best game park in West Africa, on Natitingou and the Atacora region with its many waterfalls, caves, and the famous "Tata Sombas".
- Abomey-The former capital of the great Dahomey kingdom. The main attraction is the restored Royal Palace of the Fon and the museum inside.
- Cotonou-A vibrant city, you could visit the picturesque Grand Marche de Dantokpa, the bars nightclubs or the town of Ganvie, to see bamboo huts on stilts several kilometres out on Lake Nokoue.
