Croatia is sea, sun and sand on the Adriatic coast, with medieval quaintness and some of the finest Roman ruins in Europe. Having been successively ruled by a variety of powers, the country today is a real melting pot. The picturesque offshore islands make for great sightseeing and undoubtedly the main attraction is its vast, sandy beaches. These also offer plenty of opportunities for yachting, sea kayaking, diving, rock climbing and hiking. There are seven National parks, with a variety of rare species of flora and fauna.
